Hossa National Park is the oldest official hiking area in Finland with approximately 90 kilometres of trails passing spectacular ridges, pristine lakes and pine forests.

Thought to have been home to humans for over 10,000 years, Hossa is a marvel of nature where wildlife flourishes and adventure is never far away. The pine forests here are vast, and have mostly been left in their natural state; protected so that the scenery and the species of the area are not affected by Finland’s forestry industry.

During the summer the lakes are ideal for canoeing and exploring the waterway, whilst during the winter the lakes make for wonderful snowshoeing trails – there are over 100 lakes in the area, at the junction of three main waterways. The rock paintings at Värikallio Cliffs and were only discovered in 1977 due to the vast wilderness of the landscape and seldom-seen trails.

Hossa is a popular location for Finnish families to visit and is one of the top locations for foreign adventure enthusiasts.
